The evolution of asmodee Access+
From a range to a company-wide initiative
When Access+ first launched, it was conceived as a dedicated game range for players with cognitive disabilities. The idea was clear: create games specifically designed to be accessible, in collaboration with researchers and healthcare professionals.
This first chapter allowed us to:
- Build a first collection of games tailored to players with cognitive disorders
- Work hand in hand with experts in cognitive accessibility
- Test and refine design principles in real-world settings, with care institutions and families
Access+ showed that it was possible to design games with accessibility in mind, and that these games could be both meaningful and enjoyable.

Today, Access+ is evolving into something bigger: a company-wide initiative to make accessibility a built-in feature of our activities. Rather than a separate line of “special” games, asmodee access+ is becoming a lens through which we think about all our games and all our actions. No separate lines. No afterthoughts. Just smarter and more inclusive design, from day one.
We are co-building science-based accessibility guidelines with researchers, accessibility experts, and our own studios. The goal is to give game designers clear, actionable recommendations to remove unnecessary barriers – whether they are motor, visual, auditory, cognitive, or socio-cultural.
Our ambition is to fuel the use of tabletop games in all their forms – at home, with family and friends, but also in classrooms, care centers, and professional settings – all grounded in scientific evidence. We believe tabletop games can make a difference, and science supports that.
Access+ is changing shape, but its core remains the same: to make play more accessible, more inclusive, and more meaningful for all.
