Access+ & KED 2026
Board games as learning tools in the classroom.
Asmodee was delighted to take part in KED Paris 2026, a major gathering dedicated to education and innovation in teaching practices.
For us, board games have a natural place in the classroom and alongside teachers: they are tools that support learning by creating connection, curiosity, and engagement. Being able to discuss with educators, share ideas, and explore how to integrate games into lessons is exactly what motivates our team.
A two-way exchange
The event was a valuable opportunity not only to share our perspective, but also to learn from teachers. We used this time to listen carefully to their practices, needs, tips, and constraints when it comes to ludopedagogy.
Throughout the event, we felt a real enthusiasm from educators for board games and learning through play. Many were already using games in their lessons, in different subjects and age groups, and could see firsthand how play changes the dynamics of a session. Others were curious but still looking for concrete ways to start, or to convince their colleagues and school leadership.
Teachers shared concrete questions about managing time in class, aligning games with curriculum objectives, and evaluating learning outcomes. They also exchanged practical tricks they already use, from short warm-up games to longer projects built around a single title. These insights are precious for us: they help shape how asmodee Access+ supports educators, by offering recommendations, resources, and game selections that fit real classroom realities.

Three key strengths of board games in class
During our conversations and through our content, we highlighted three main reasons to give board games a place in teaching practices:
- Engagement
Gaming captures pupils’ attention and makes them active participants in their learning. By participating actively, they can stay focused and engaged in the session. - Active revision
Playing allows pupils to use their acquired knowledge in a different way. This active approach helps them memorize and anchor concepts over time. - Class spirit
Gaming fosters exchange, listening, and cooperation among pupils. It helps create a more positive classroom atmosphere where everyone can find their place.
These points resonated strongly with the educators we met, who could immediately imagine how to apply them in their own contexts.
Continuing the conversation
Our presence at KED 2026 confirmed that the teaching community is ready to embrace board games as serious learning tools. The next step is to support teachers in this process: sharing concrete examples, co-designing sessions, and building long-term practices that make play a natural part of the classroom.
This event reflects the ambition of asmodee Access+: to connect education, play, and inclusion, and to show that board games can help teach differently, in a way that is engaging, inclusive, and meaningful for all pupils.
