Chromino
Chromino engages selective attention, planning, reasoning and fine motor skills through a colourful twist on classic dominoes.
Presentation
Chromino reinvents dominoes using colours instead of numbers. Players place their Chromino tiles by matching at least two identically coloured squares with tiles already in play. The first player to place all their tiles wins.
Solo modo : Available through the Conundrums challenges.

Accessibility features
- Progressive difficulty: Beginner rules simplify the matching rule to a single colour contact, making it easier to learn the game before moving to the standard rules.
- Large, light game material, easy to grip, handle and place, supporting players who may experience difficulties with fine motor skills or dexterity.
- No reading required: Players can enjoy the game without needing to be able to read or understand written text.
- No time pressure: Players can observe, think and act at their own pace.
Skills engaged
Chromino relies on visuospatial selective attention and reasoning. Players scan an expanding arrangement of tiles, compare colour combinations and mentally explore different orientations and positions before deciding where a Chromino can be placed. This helps engage:
- Selective attention: Players scan the playing area to identify matching colours and possible placements for their tiles. They filter out incompatible options to efficiently identify opportunities to play.
- Reasoning and problem-solving: Players mentally rotate and reposition tiles to explore different orientations and possible placements. It helps them understand how colour combinations fit together and determine all possible positions.
- Planning: Players evaluate which tiles to play and where to place them, considering both immediate possibilities and future opportunities. Planning helps them anticipate how each placement may change the playing area and influence their following moves.
- Object manipulation: Fine motor coordination help players pick up, orient and accurately place their tiles. These actions involve hand-eye coordination and controlled finger movements to position the tiles according to their chosen moves.

Scientific note
A literature review has demonstrated positive associations between interventions based on traditional board games, such as chess or Go, and cognitive functions, such as attention, working memory, and adaptive skills (executive functions), although Chromino itself has not been specifically studied.
